The Danfoss AKV 20 electric expansion valve controls the refrigerant injection into the evaporator and is driven by an electronic controller using pulse-width modulation. It has brazed (ODF) connections and comes in five orifice sizes, from AKV 20-1 (72 kW with R404A) to AKV 20-5 (446 kW with R404A). For lower capacities, see the AKV 15. Danfoss rated capacities at +4.4 °C evaporating, 38 °C condensing and 37 °C liquid temperature. AKV 20 is not suitable for CO2 (R744) when the media temperature stays below 0 °C.
