In fishing, seafood trading and food processing, ice does more than cool: it must keep products hydrated, avoid freezer burn and fit closely around food without damaging it through mechanical contact.
At Afric Froid, we design and install industrial ice plants, either standalone or connected to refrigeration racks, for fresh water or seawater. Our generators provide continuous, subcooled, hygienic production, with capacities ranging from a few hundred kilos to several tens of tonnes per day.

Flake Ice Plants

Features: Dry, subcooled ice (between -5°C and -8°C), 1.5 mm to 2.2 mm thick.

Applications: Direct icing of fresh fish on boats and in fish markets, minced meat, dough mixing in industrial bakeries, construction (concrete cooling).

Benefits: A large heat-exchange surface for instant cooling, with no sharp edges, protecting fish skin and delicate flesh.

Nugget / Granular Ice Plants

Features: Compact, wet ice (around 0°C) containing about 25% residual water.

Applications: Seafood displays in supermarkets, testing laboratories, hospitals, hotel buffets and drinks.

Benefits: Excellent mouldability for display counters, keeps products glossy, and uses less energy.

Block Ice Plants

Features: Large blocks (10 kg to 50 kg) with a very slow melting rate.

Applications: Traditional fishing ports, long-term storage and tropical areas with harsh ambient conditions.
