The solution delivered
Background and client needs
As part of the development of Burkina Faso’s agricultural sector, our client needed robust infrastructure to keep potatoes fresh and of high quality all year round. In a climate where outdoor temperatures regularly reach 40°C to 45°C, the main challenge was to design an energy-efficient warehouse able to store up to 3,000 tonnes while drastically reducing post-harvest losses.
Our work
- Technical study and refrigeration sizing
- Design of a solution tailored to the needs
- Supply of equipment and insulated panels
- On-site assembly and connection
- Commissioning and operating tests”
A solution tailored to the client’s requirements
Using our technical expertise, we implemented stepped temperature control (a 1°C drop per day), a 90% target humidity to prevent drying out, and an optimised storage density (250 to 300 kg/m³) for perfect preservation of seed and table potatoes.
Project highlights
Limit post-harvest potato losses in extreme ambient temperatures (up to 45°C), while storing 3,000 tonnes with controlled humidity and temperature pull-down
A warehouse with three chilled cold rooms with precise temperature control (2°C to 6°C), humidity control (90% RH) and a rapid cooling system for products entering at 25°C.
Reinforced thermal insulation that cuts energy use, perfect preservation without drying out or weight loss, and a durable industrial asset that maximises the client’s profitability.
