The solution delivered

Background and client needs

To strengthen its capacity for preserving and processing fresh products, our client needed a standalone, high-output industrial ice production unit.

A key challenge was to produce abundant, consistent, high-quality ice that keeps its cooling power even in very hot weather. The ice had to be perfectly dry and easy to handle, to avoid clumping and allow immediate use in the process.

Simple operation, automated ice extraction and controlled energy costs were also key requirements, to streamline operators’ work and make the investment pay off.

AFRIC FROID was asked to design and install a complete, tailored ice production solution combining robustness, automation and continuous operation.

Our work

AFRIC FROID delivered this ice plant, from the technical study of requirements to the handover of a ready-to-use unit.

We supplied and installed a highly durable vertical ice generator with energy-efficient refrigeration equipment. To make daily operation easier, we integrated a 4-metre automatic screw extractor that moves the ice smoothly to storage or use areas.

The installation includes a smart control cabinet with electronic regulation and a remote control unit, for simple system management, automatic start-up and continuous operational safety.

Our teams carried out all assembly, connections and adjustments, followed by commissioning and performance tests to guarantee dry ice and optimal output.

Project highlights

What was the client's challenge?

The client wanted a reliable, continuous way to produce large daily volumes of high-quality ice for preserving fresh food, while eliminating strenuous manual handling and controlling electricity consumption.

What solution was proposed?

AFRIC FROID designed and installed a flake ice plant with a capacity of up to 12 tonnes/day. The solution uses equipment from leading European brands, smart automatic controls that can be operated remotely and a screw conveyor for automatic ice extraction.

What are the benefits of this installation?

The installation produces perfectly dry ice that is easy to spread, cooling products quickly. It offers optimised energy efficiency, great ease of use thanks to automated controls, and maximum operational safety through built-in alarm and protection systems.
